Technical Manager

Responseabilitys involve overseeing, maintaning and organising the Theatre and all its equipment, staff, resource needs, schedules, budgets.

Chief LX

Responsibilities invlove, Full Qualififed Electrician, Pat test electrical Equipment for safty. The ability to draw up and interpert detailed lighting plans, Organise crews to rig lights, plot, focus, set gels, and de-rig. Understand what the Lighting Designer needs and find solutins to complex lighting problems, inculding maxime loads and voltages used at peak show time. ability to run and program Lighting Desks. Daily lamp checks and safty checks, working at height and with harness and safety ropes. ability to manage staff and roters and day to day Electricks department.

Deputy Chief Lx

Dayman LX

Lighting Designer

Responsible for designing, focusing and plotting the lighting for a production. In the professional theatre he is not normally responsible for operating the lighting, although he will usually do that in the amateur theatre. Responsible to the Director, not the Stage Manager. Works in close co-operation with the Designer.

Assistant Lx designer

Responsible for designing, focusing and plotting the lighting for a production. In the professional theatre he is not normally responsible for operating the lighting, although he will usually do that in the amateur theatre. Responsible to the Director, not the Stage Manager. Works in close co-operation with the Designer and electrics department and lighting board programing

Stage Lx

Plup/unplug practicals, plug/unplug trucks, fill dry ice, smoke machines, run smoke cues and practical light effects, general stage show electicals.

Master Carpenter

The master carpenter coordinates with the set designer to contruct the design with the budget. They will identify resources and maintain inventory of all the set pieces and components. This person also manages the installation of the set into the performance space, and ensures the integrity of the set throughout the run of the show. They also return all borrowed and rented items.

Deputy Master carpenter

Chargehand carpenter

They will identify resources and maintain inventory of all the set pieces and components. This person also manages the installation of the set into the performance space, and ensures the integrity of the set throughout the run of the show

Crew

Move senic art, furniture, sets, trucks during the performance.
Follow spot operator

Follow Actors around stage with different strenght lights and color gells, must be able to work at height and be able to learn the show quickly and learn when to pick up and fade out on Q.

Lx Board operator

Needs an understanding of lighting design and lighting board operation, ability to load and override show programs when lighting states fail due to light failer, will spend most of there time operating the lighting desk during shows.

Automation operator

Will operater on stage electrical or hydrolic systems, a technical background is prefer with some computer system knowldge always helps.

Rigger

The ability to work at height with knowledge of health and saftey is a must, you will primaraly be working with electrics, sound and carpentry departments rigging up lighting bars, lights, sets, sound eqipment.

Sound designer, Sound Operator, Assistant Sound Operator.

Theatre Sound Technicians are responsible for all aspects of sound during productions, including controlling sound levels, sound reinforcement, sound effects, music and dialogue. They work closely with other members of the production team. Sound Technicians may be employed on a permanent or freelance basis by Receiving Theatres, Producing Theatres (Reps) or Touring Companies. They may also be required to Design the sound for productions. The specifics of the work vary enormously depending on the requirements of each production, company, venue etc., and the overlaps between the roles of Sound Designer and Technician are often blurred.

Head of Wardrobe, Wardrobe assistant, Dressers.

The Wardrobe Head makes sure that all costumes are taken care of during rehearsals and performances. The Wardrobe Head also makes repairs and alterations, as needed. The Wardrobe Head also makes sure rehearsal shoes and costumes are available, especially when dealing with specialty or difficult costumes (such as heels for ladies or period outfits). The Wardrobe Head organizes the costume area so that actors can easily find their costumes. The Wardrobe Head can have assistants (Costume Technologists) working for her. The Wardrobe Head will need to be at dress rehearsals and performances.

Important skills for Costume Shop Supervisor & dressers is creativity, organized, hard working, able to predict and/or plan for problems and have ready solutions for them, common sense, responsibility.

Wigs fall into there own catergory but the Wig Master/Mistress will work closely with Wardrobe department and have its own set of skills and needs such as Wig creation, manufacture, care, repair, cleaning.
